Medicare Advantage Cuts to be Voted On Today!

Congress will vote TODAY to cut $47 billion from the Medicare Advantage program, or about $1,000 annually for every Medicare Advantage enrollee.Currently, these dollars are used to fund more comprehensive and attractive coverage to consumers that improves their benefits, lowers their out of pocket costs, and provides better quality care.

  • Many areas of the country will lose the option of enrolling in a Medicare Advantage plan. Congress estimates enrollment in MA will decline by 3 million enrollees by 2011.
  • In areas of the country where MA remains an option, the benefits will not be as attractive. On average, health care experts estimate current and future enrollee’s out-of-pocket costs for health care would double, under the cuts proposed by Congress.
  • Medicare Advantage enrollees in the poorest health would pay even more if Congress makes these cuts.

We hope you will take a moment to call your representative in Congress to express your opposition to these cuts.
